BBM 2008:s1 - Overview
After an extraordinarily long, cold winter (with an exception for our friends in Vancouver), here is some new fuel for the fire……. the new BBM radio numbers, hot off the presses….
Toronto: Bragging rights at the top of the ratings heap go once, again, to CHFI-FM with a 9.6% share (equal to last book) followed by CHUM-FM with 8.4% share (down from 8.9%) of hours tuned for Adults 12+. Impressive gains once again for 680 News (6.0% share up from 4.4%) and CFRB (6.7% share up from 5.7%)…..don’t let anyone tell you AM is dead. CHUM-FM, with Roger, Rick and Marilyn at the helm, continues to lead the way for females 25-54 with a 16.2% share (up from 16.1%) followed by CHFI-FM with 12.5% share (down from 14.4%) and EZRock 97.3 with 9.8% share (up from 8.5%). Q107 leads the way for males 25-54, posting a 12.0% share (down from 13.9%). The Edge held their lead with M18-34 turning in a 16.3% share (up from 15.9%). CHUM-FM grabbed top spot for females 18-34, delivering a 17.3% (up from 12.6%) followed by Z103.5 at 14.2% (up from 12.9%).
Vancouver: Just as I said for Toronto….don’t let anyone tell you AM is dead. CKNW remained a strong #1 for A12+ with a 10.9% share of hours tuned (up from10.0%). A very nice book for CBC Radio One, jumping to a 10.7% share from an 8.4% last time. 103.5 QM-FM strengthened its spot atop F25-54 delivering a 13.7% share (up from 11.0%) followed by CBC Radio One at 10.0% (up from 6.1%). JACK-FM takes the lead for M25-54 category with a 10.9% (up from 9.5 %) followed closely by ROCK101 at 10.5% (down from 11.7%). The FOX takes top honours for M18-34 with a 20.1% share (down from 20.8%) followed by The Beat at 16.8% (down from 17.5%)
Winnipeg: CJOB slipped a bit but kept its grip on its leadership position with a 15.3% share of hours tuned for A12+ (down from 17.2%). Nice gains for Hot 103 delivering an 11.2% (up from 9.0) and QX104 at 9.6 (up from 7.5%). Hot103 held its lead for F25-54 with a 14.2% share of hours tuned (up from 14.0%) followed by QX104 at 13.2% (up from 9.9%) and 99.9 BOB-FM (12.3% down from 12.4%). 92 CITI-FM once again held the #1 position with M25-54 posting a 16.5% (down from 17.1%) share of hrs. tuned. Power 97 continues to dominate M18-34 with a formidable 28.5% share of hrs. tuned (down from 29.4%).
Montreal: CBF FM 95,1 Montreal held its lead with an 11.0% (down from 11.8%) share of hours tuned A12+. In the F25-54 race, 105,7 Rythme FM tops the list at 14.5% share (down from16.5%) followed by Rock Détente 107,3 at 13.1% (up from 12.1%). CHOM-FM 94.3 takes top spot for M25-54, posting an 11.7% (down from 12.3%). For Montreal Anglo, CHOM-FM holds down the #1 position for M25-54 with a 19.8% share of hrs.tuned (up from 19.5%) while F25-54 features MIX96 at 32.4% (up from 31.3%). For Montreal Franco, Energie 94,3 holds down the lead for M25-54 with a 14.7 % share of hrs.tuned (up from 12.3 %) while F25-54 has 105,7 Rythme FM delivering a 18.6% share (down from 21.0%).
Calgary: Another AM at the top of the heap. CBC Radio top A12+ with a 9.8% share of hours tuned (up from 6.7%). CJAY92 claims the #1 position for M25-54 with 13.7% share of hours tuned (up from 11.1%). F25-54 goes to Country 105, posting a 14.7% (down from 15.1% followed by Lite96 with a 14.4% share of hrs. tuned (down from 16.2%). X92.9 leads the way for M18-34 with a 15.7 (up from 10.6%) followed closely by CJAY92 at 15.2% (down from 23.1%).
In Edmonton, CHED holds down top honours for A12+ with a 13.3% share (up from 11.7% last time out). For F25-54, CISN rises to #1 with 17.2% (up from 14.0%). For M25-54, despite a drop, The Bear remains #1 with a 14.9% (down from 19.3%). M18-34 once again belongs to the Bear with a 25.8% share (down from 34.9%)
Ottawa-Gatineau: CBC Radio One holds its #1 position with a 9.9% share (down from 14.6%) for A12+ . Nice gains for Rock Détente 94,9 Gatineau with 9.2% (up from7.1%) and 580 CFRA at 8.4% (up from 7.0%). CHEZ106 continues to lead the way with M25-54, delivering 11.4% share of hours tuned (down from 14.0%). For F25-54, Rock Détente 94,9 Gatineau tops the list with a 14.9% share (up from 11.2%) followed by Majic 100 at 12.6 (up from 11.1).
